Bonsai for Beginners

Practicing the ancient art-form of bonsai is a blending of horticulture and sculpture art. In this class, you’ll learn the basics of bonsai growth and design, hands-on repotting and trimming techniques, and participants will leave with a bonsai-start to continue to nurture and design at home.


About the instructor:

John Demaegd’s 40 years of work in county parks taught him plant husbandry and fostered his passion for caring and growing plants. In addition, decades as a watercolor artist gave him a special eye for the design and sculpture of plants for a skillful transformation into a bonsai. John’s current collection of more than 100 bonsai are at different stages of growth and development providing many years of nurturing their final design.

Suggested Audience: Adults and children 7+
