Arboretum

Fernwood’s 45-acre arboretum was begun in 1967. The design consultant was Clarence Godshalk, Director Emeritus of Morton Arboretum. Visitors can see trees and shrubs from temperate regions around the world, planted in naturalistic groups surrounded by lawns and meadows. The arboretum is used by school children and homeowners in search of specific trees. Bluebirds are an added attraction, thanks to nest boxes placed strategically between the groves.
