Carl F. (Fred) Story showed an early affinity for art, having his work featured while in the fourth grade. He won many awards in High School, and after a long hiatus, received a Bachelor of Arts from IUSB. Fred's art work appears in collections throughout the U.S., as well as Canada and Europe. He lives in Osceola, Indiana with his wife Betty Benson and their daughter Danielle.
"As a painter I am drawn to color and light, because they reveal line, form, and texture to the eye," Fred says. "A painting by nature is an illusion, a representation of something else, and is, therefore, fundamentally abstract. I hope you see something familiar in my work, a sense of presence and grace, a memory or a dream of a similar place or time, when you too felt a sense of awe, joy, and peace."
Meet Fred and see his artwork in the Clark Gallery on August 3 at 3:00.
