Weddings and Receptions

Edible Michiana contributor Ashley Swartzendruber of Ashley Dru Photography, rated Fernwood among the best local places for getting hitched in Michiana! Here is what she said about Fernwood:

"This venue is the definition of summer. Endless amounts of nature and beautiful flowers surrounding you everywhere. Your guests can have a great time enjoying what we all love about summer."

And the South Bend Tribune 2014 Reader's Choice Awards ranked Fernwood in the top three for the "Favorite Place for a Wedding Reception."

“We searched high and low for our venue, and after really honing in on having an outdoor wedding, we found Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve in Niles, Michigan. The gardens at Fernwood are beautiful no matter the season.”

Facilities available for rent include the Gallery, Summer House, and Meeting House. Various locations on the grounds also are available for outdoor receptions. Garden weddings and wedding photographs at Fernwood are made especially beautiful and particularly memorable by their setting in Fernwood's wonderful gardens, unique in every season. There are a number of options available to meet the needs of your Bridal Shower, Wedding, and Wedding reception.

The Dovecote in the Cottage Garden is a very popular location for a garden wedding. The view is lovely and there is plenty of seating room for guests on "The Green."  The South Vista has two ponds and a stream, and is a location where a tent can be set up if desired. The Boxwood Garden is a secluded spot for an intimate wedding.

Consider the Perennial Garden as a wedding site, which is near the Summer House, a good location for your reception. The North Vista will accomodate large weddings and is near the Meeting House for your reception.

The Clark Gallery can accomodate up to 125 for a wedding and 80 people for a reception or shower. If you have more than 80, you might consider renting a tent for the South Vista Garden.

The Meeting House is ideal for a reception near the North Vista. A large west window and sliding doors on the north allow in plenty of light and views of the garden.
